Calm in the Storm: Self-Care for Chaotic Times

A lot of stuff on self-care can be nonsense.

You’re told all these things you should be doing… that you then just don’t do. A deeper cut than just telling people what to do is necessary.

People have to get in touch with a deep embodied self-care, and find out what’s really needed. Sometimes it is a bubble bath…other times it’s intimate connection with a loved one, or telling your boss to get lost. You gotta feel it, and connect to why it matters specifically to you.

What You'll Learn During “Calm in the Storm: Self-Care for Chaotic Times”

Self-care is not a to-do list to tick off. It’s an ongoing, embodied process. And with a lot of people up against it right now, a deeper take on self-care is worth it.

The Embodied 3-Step Self-Care Process

During Calm in the Storm: Self Care for Chaotic times, you'll go into detail in the following three steps to become successful with your self-care:

  1. Understand more deeply what self-care actually is
  2. Find the specific techniques that work for you
  3. Get motivated to actually do them!

This event offers some really practical tools, and a more fundamental take on why we don’t do the things we already know will help.

Benefits of Self-Care

  • Being more sustainable doing the work you love
  • Getting on and being less irritable with family members
  • Improved health
  • Being more in your body (which is attractive, of course)
  • Simply being happier!

While these tools can be used for a range of issues (boundaries, acceptance, confidence and more), this event will focus on why people self-neglect, find specific solutions, and build the motivation to actually do the work. It’s a 3-step process.

So if you’re feeling stressed, doing important work that you want to be sustainable, or finding the normal clichés don't quite cut it, then come. If you want to be kinder and “less snappy”, stop wasting time on ineffective practices, or support others with their self-care, then come.

Why Self-Care Is So Important During These Chaotic Times

Given how chaotic the world is, self-care is needed more than ever. To be healthy, to have good relationships, and just to get by!

With all that’s going on with the economy, inequality, war, and more, we need to make time for ourselves.

BUT, while we all know we need self-care… do we actually do it?

Let’s be honest, what we’re really talking about here are the ways we self-abuse.

It’s not your fault, but you can take responsibility for stopping this.

Even with the best intentions and enough information, many of us don’t do self-care. Why is that?

Sometimes self-care is presented to us as luxury spa breaks, bubble baths, hours of meditation per day, or spiritually bypassing the world’s problems. This doesn’t really get to the heart of it though, does it?

And, with so many options available, it’s easy to get lost as to what actually makes the difference for us. We don’t have time for it all, and one size does not chill all.

More fundamentally, some of us feel like we don’t deserve self-care and therefore somehow never “find” the time. We feel that it’s selfish or not worth it, even if we know it isn’t.

In order to actually look after ourselves, we must first take a deeper look at what’s going on, and then make the embodied shift to make it happen.

So, if you’ve heard the good advice around self-care but haven’t actually put it into practise, or you just want to retune into what you need right now, this event may be for you.

It will be fun, anarchistic, and introduce you to the Embodied Toolkit, which is a set of tools to make fast embodied shifts, and gain deep insights, rather than just tell you about self-care.

You’ll learn why you’re not self-caring, find specific techniques that work for you, and find the motivation to actually do them.
