Nonviolent Communication can be effectively applied at all levels of communication and in diverse situations: intimate relationships, families, schools, organizations and institutions, therapy and counseling, diplomatic and business negotiations, disputes, and conflicts of any nature.

When you learn Nonviolent Communication, you actually learn how to:

  • Treat everyone with compassion (especially yourself)
  • Develop a new vocabulary of feelings for articulating “what's alive in you” (instead of resorting to harmful emotional patterns)
  • Uncover, honor, and meet the basic human needs at the core of any conflict
  • Recover from an argument quickly and feel more connected afterward
  • Communicate your needs and understand the needs of others using a step-by-step system
  • Cultivate more compassion (and why it is the key to strong communication)
  • Apply these skills to improve relationships in all facets of your life (work, love, family, parenting)

Over the years, the response to Nonviolent Communication has been extraordinary. Students of Dr. Rosenberg's work have described it as life-changing—that these skills have eased their workdays, improved their family relationships, and resolved disputes decades in the making.
