Inspirational Quote: “You will face your greatest opposition when you are closest to your biggest miracle.” – Shannon L. Alder
You are destined for great things in life; however, in order to achieve them you must grow. Just like Joseph Campbell’s hero’s journey, the greater your struggle the greater your eventual triumph.
Therefore, when you are faced with tough situations it’s imperative to realize that they are helping you grow into the exact perfect person you need to become… to live the life you’d always dreamed of.
Your faith will be tested. Curveballs will come your way. Life will be hardest when you are at your growing edge. This is actually where the road to success begins.
Realize that by overcoming your greatest struggles, you’ll gain a profound life experience that empowers you to live an amazing life. Also, just like the hero’s journey, part of the miracle you receive is becoming a person who can help others through difficult times.
If you’ve ever looked at the journey of successful people, you’ll notice that almost all of them faced extreme adversity in their lives. In some cases, they hit “rock bottom” like Robert Downey Jr.
For five years, he abused multiple illegal substances, was arrested repeatedly, went through rehab, relapse, and more. He had destroyed his career and relationships. Eventually, he found his path and he shared that turning point with Oprah Winfrey:
“When someone says, ‘I really wonder if maybe I should go to rehab?’ Well, uh, you’re a wreck, you just lost your job, and your wife left you. Uh, you might want to give it a shot.”
After his last arrest in 2001, when he knew he’d likely be going to prison (or court-ordered rehap) again, he said to himself:
“You know what? I don’t think I can continue doing this. And I reached out for help, and I ran with it. You can reach out for help in kind of a half-assed way and you’ll get it and you won’t take advantage of it. It’s not that difficult to overcome these seemingly ghastly problems … what’s hard is to decide to do it.”
After that, he went on to have a wildly successful career, landing roles as Iron Man and amassing a net worth of over $300 million.
As you can see, the struggles that highly successful people go through are the exact experiences they need to reach their greatest levels of success. In other words, they only received their miracles after they went through the most difficult times of their lives.
