The Story at the Heart of the Film

What Is Unsinkable: The Secret to Bouncing Back About?

No matter who we are, where we come from, or how we’ve lived, we all have three things in common: a beginning, a middle and an end.

It’s called life — and it’s also a story.

None of us get through life unscathed. A relationship ends. A job disappears. Money becomes frighteningly tight. Someone we love dies. Our health changes. A plan we had counted on collapses. Sometimes several of those things happen close enough together that the life we thought we understood suddenly doesn’t make much sense anymore.

And with so much advice available about how to “get back up,” it can be surprisingly easy to feel even more lost. Well-intentioned advice is still usually coming from somebody else’s experience. What helped them may or may not be what we need.

That’s part of what makes The Unsinkable Movie interesting. Rather than relying on one voice or one point of view, the documentary brings together people from different personal-growth backgrounds while following Sonia Ricotti’s own experience of being forced to put the idea of “bouncing back” into practice.

The deeper question isn’t whether life will ever knock us down. It’s what relationship we want to have with the chapter that follows.

The documentary follows Sonia’s personal story while weaving in perspectives from Bob Proctor, Lisa Nichols, Jack Canfield, Les Brown, Marci Shimoff, Dr. Joe Dispenza, John Assaraf, Dr. John Gray, Rhonda Britten, Barnet Bain and Shellyann Siddoo.

Who Can The Unsinkable Movie Help?

Sometimes Life Knocks Us Down in Very Different Ways

No matter what your current situation is, parts of this movie may feel familiar if you’re experiencing financial problems, going through a breakup, dealing with the loss of a job, facing health issues, grieving someone you love, or simply feeling stuck in your life.

Financial problems
When money trouble affects not only practical choices, but also confidence, security and the future you thought you were building.
A breakup or divorce
When the future you pictured with another person suddenly isn’t the future you’re living.
Losing a job
Especially when work was closely tied to identity, stability or self-worth.
Health challenges
When uncertainty about the body or future changes the way everyday life feels.
Grief & loss
Sonia’s experience losing her mother became part of the movie’s story and forced her to revisit everything she had learned about resilience.
Simply feeling stuck
Sometimes there is no single dramatic event. We just know that the old way of moving through life no longer feels right.

And even if you’re not going through a major crisis, there can be something useful about exploring resilience before the next difficult chapter arrives.

Watch The Unsinkable Movie Trailer — Our Unofficial Fan Version

We loved The Unsinkable Movie enough that we created our own fan-made trailer for it. This isn’t the official movie trailer — it’s our introduction to the story and why we thought the film was worth sharing.

In Her Own Words

A Message From Sonia Ricotti About The Unsinkable Movie

Rather than summarize Sonia from a distance, we’ve kept her original message here in her own voice, lightly shortened for readability.

Mindset is everything right now. If you’re finding yourself feeling stressed, worried, fearful and/or anxious, it’s important to manage that.

So, managing your MIND is important right now (more than ever).

Like I say in The Unsinkable Movie:

“It’s not what’s going on outside of you that’s causing you to feel the way you do. It’s your thoughts ABOUT what’s going on outside of you, that’s causing you to feel that way. Your thoughts are causing your suffering.”

For instance, the stress, worry, anxiety and/or fear you may be experiencing right now is usually from you worrying about the future. Worrying about things that may or may not happen (who knows). Remember, those too are just thoughts.

All suffering occurs when you’re thinking about the past or worrying about the future — never in the present moment (unless something is happening right at that moment, like getting attacked by a bear or something). :)

So, anytime you’re feeling stressed, worried, fearful or anxious, simply bring yourself back to this present moment RIGHT NOW by asking yourself this question:

What problems do I have right now — right this second?

None.

Always bring yourself back to this present moment.

Yes, you need to plan for the future.

Yes, you do what you need to do.

But don’t get stuck in those negative and stressful “what if” thoughts.

Whenever those come up (and they will), don’t judge them. Just consciously release them and let them go — like clouds moving through the sky — and bring yourself back to this moment right now.

I know that the thoughts of the future can be scary right now, but they are just thoughts. In fact, so many GREAT things can happen too! You never know!

For me personally — my darkest days actually brought me to my biggest and best life.

So yes, miracles DO happen. :)

Keep yourself open to “receive” miracles to come your way. You can begin doing that by calming your mind, grabbing some popcorn, and watching the Unsinkable documentary movie online.

I’m also grateful to share with you my 12 Steps to a Happy Life.

More Than Positive Thinking

What The Unsinkable Movie Explores

Resilience After Adversity
How do we respond when the chapter we’re living is nothing like the chapter we would have chosen?
Letting Go
The film repeatedly returns to releasing the grip of what has already happened instead of allowing the past to dictate every part of the present.
Attention & Perspective
Several speakers explore how the way we interpret circumstances can influence what we feel able to do next.
Forgiveness
Forgiveness appears as an inward release rather than approval of another person’s actions.
Rebuilding After Loss
Sometimes “bouncing back” doesn’t mean recreating the old life. It means discovering what belongs in the life that comes next.
The Stories We Carry
Our history matters. The film asks whether it has to become the only story available for our future.

If forgiveness is one of the ideas you’re sitting with, you may also appreciate our Nelson Mandela story about leaving the prison behind.
