Why Attend “How to Break Through the Private Practice Plateau”

How to Break Through the Private Practice Plateau with John Howard, LMFT

Therapists spend years developing clinical skills, yet many receive far less guidance on referrals, marketing, fee setting, and the business decisions that keep a private practice sustainable. That gap can become especially noticeable once a practice reaches a plateau.

You may have enough clients to keep working, but referrals have slowed. You may be considering a fee change but feel uncertain about how clients will respond. Or you may be near capacity while still wondering what the next stage of growth should look like.

John’s approach focuses on practical business skills rather than simply working harder. You’ll explore ways to strengthen referral systems, professional relationships, and visibility while identifying the decisions that may help your practice keep evolving.

Who Should Attend

This event is for therapists who have developed strong clinical skills but want more clarity around the business side of private practice. It may be especially relevant when a practice feels established enough to function, yet not structured enough to keep growing with confidence.

If referrals, fees, visibility, professional relationships, or strategic direction have become recurring questions, the webinar offers a practical framework for looking at those areas more intentionally.

  • Therapists whose referrals have slowed or become less predictable
  • Private practitioners who are considering a fee increase and want to approach it professionally
  • Clinicians who are working near capacity but still feel their practice has plateaued
  • Therapists who want stronger relationships with professional referral partners
  • Practitioners who want to increase visibility without relying on constant self-promotion
  • Experienced therapists looking for clearer strategic decisions about what comes next

What You’ll Learn

John breaks private practice growth into practical areas you can examine and strengthen, from how new clients find you to how you make business decisions when your current approach is no longer creating the momentum you want.

You’ll look at referral systems, fee conversations, professional visibility, and trusted relationships with other professionals. You’ll also learn how to identify the factors that may be keeping your practice at the same level despite your experience and effort.

The goal is not to turn therapy into constant self-promotion. It is to help you think more intentionally about the business practices that support your clinical work.

Here’s just a little bit of what you’ll learn:
  • Simple referral strategies designed to bring more consistency to how new clients find your practice
  • How to approach fee increases with greater confidence and professionalism while maintaining strong client relationships
  • Ways to increase your visibility and strengthen your professional reputation with ideal clients and referral partners
  • How to build a network of trusted referral partners instead of relying on word of mouth alone
  • How to identify what may be keeping your practice from reaching its next stage of growth
